Social media trends, platforms, and algorithms change all the time. And if you’ve tried staying up to date on what’s currently working and what’s not, you know how time- consuming it is to keep track. But one strategy continues to benefit every social media channel no matter what industry you’re in. And that, quite simply is—consistency. Maintaining a consistent online presence and posting schedule is essential for growth, engagement, and an increased following. It sounds easy enough, right? Yet business owners often get sidetracked by other projects, and social media takes a backseat on the priority list. Whether you manage your business’s social media independently or are considering working with (or have hired) a social media manager, here is why consistency is the most important thing to remember when planning your content. Building Community Social media is all about the community you create. Talking at people and only selling rather than engaging does not work. By consistently engaging with your audience through replying to comments, sharing posts, and asking for feedback, you signal to followers that you value their input and appreciate their following. Improved Algorithm Metrics It’s not easy to crack the latest algorithms, but it can be done. One way is by maintaining a consistent posting schedule. Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok reward regular use by showing your posts more frequently and highlighting them in new or featured feeds. Consistency offers a competitive advantage over competitors; just make sure your content remains on brand with your messaging and audience. Become an Industry Expert Followers should see you as an expert in your field. Create content that offers valuable insight other accounts aren’t providing, or consider sharing industry news so YOU are their go-to resource. It won’t happen overnight, but with time people WILL recognize you as a reliable account, leading to an increased following, more opportunity for partnerships, and overall growth. Stay Relevant Every day, over 95 million photos and videos are uploaded to Instagram, and TikTok users send an estimated 500 million tweets daily. That is A LOT of new content, which is why users scroll past posts at lightning speed. It also means users barely retain or remember most of what they see in their feeds. But when you maintain a consistent influx of content, the odds of people noticing regularly also increase. Stay quiet for too long, and they’ll move on to a new business or brand. Remember, every post doesn’t need to be perfect. If you spend too much time overthinking the small stuff, you risk missing the bigger picture—consistency. Aim to solidify a brand identity followers can easily recognize and resonate with. It isn’t just about posting daily or keeping a routine; it’s about building a reliable presence your audience can count on and want to keep coming back to.

Generating more traffic on social channels is a common source of frustration among business owners. No matter how great your content is, if it’s not getting likes or com ments, chances are it's not getting the visibility it deserves. So, what gives? It might be as simple as fine-tuning your strategies. As social media experts, we find that when the algorithms are happy, they tend to be more forgiving in sharing your content with a broader audience. Ready to turn the tables and start swinging the pendulum in your favor? Here are ten things you can implement TODAY to get more traction across your platforms. 1. Add Music: Music adds personality to your content. Posts that include background music tend to be seen more favorably by social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok because they align with their content style. As a result, these posts usually get more visibility, boosting their engagement rate. 2. Invite Collaborators: To get your posts seen by a larger audience, consider adding collaborators to your Instagram posts. Simply select the username you want to add, and when they accept, your post will be added to their feed and seen by their followers. You will both have access to all the likes and comments. It's super easy and very effective! 3. Create a Poll : Polls are a great way to get instant feedback from your audience. Whether you include it in a story or a standalone post, people love sharing their opinions. And don’t be afraid to include polls on topics outside your industry. Consider asking about seasonal themes, pop culture—anything that generates a response. 4. Ask Questions: Similar to polls, asking open-ended questions lets followers provide a more in-depth reply. This is especially true for feedback on a new product or service. Most people will want to show their support, but in the event of criticism, use it as data to make necessary improvements. 5. Share a “Follow Friday”: These are an easy, fun way to get more followers on your page. All you need to do is create a post asking followers to share/tag other accounts in the comments. It encourages a sense of community and shows you support other businesses in the same industry. 6. Craft a Strong Call to Action: CTAs are one of the most popular ways to generate more clicks; the key is making the desired action crystal clear. Followers should instantly know what to do and how to do it. Avoid vague language. For example, instead of saying, "Learn more," try, "Download your free guide now." 7. Connect with Influencers: Influencers are everywhere today, and that can be GREAT for small business marketing. Consider connecting with those who are local to your area or industry. Don’t be afraid to message them directly about a partnership. If you offer a valuable service, chances are they will want to share it with their audience, too. 8. Include Links: Clickable links are an effective way to drive traffic to external websites and resources. Ensure the links you provide are mobile-friendly since most users are on their phones. Include the link in your bio and stories for added exposure. 9. Use Personal Photos and Videos: Curated content is great (hello, Canva) but nothing beats the connection that comes from sharing personal photos and videos. Followers love getting a sneak peek into your life behind the scenes of your business! Make a concerted effort to include more in your monthly content—then watch the clicks come in! 10. Utilize Stories Frequently: We say this often, BUT Instagram and Facebook favor accounts that share stories frequently. Share your content, relevant content from other accounts—anything that inspires you and will inspire your audience, too. Daily stories are great, but if it isn't feasible, aim for at least 3-5 shares per week for optimal results. Boosting your social media click-through rates and overall enga gement doesn’t need to be complicated. But it DOES take a little effort and consistency. If you find yourself struggling to manage your business’s social media, we've got you. Officially Social is here to help simplify the process and take one thing off your already-full plate. Social media engagement is a crucial part of a strong and thriving online presence. The content you create and share should encourage followers to interact—just like a r eal-life conversation. So, what happens when you’re posting the right things but not getting the right results? Don't worry. We’ve got you! Your page’s engagement is measured in various ways, including: Likes Saves Comments Shares Clicks Mentions Direct Messages It takes the right combination of content strategy, audience interaction, and knowledge of platform features to effectively boost engagement. If you want to move the needle in the right direction, here are four things we suggest you start doing today: Reply On Time According to a recent Forbes article , 93% of consumers expect a brand to respond to them within 24 hours or less. That can be tough as a multitasking business owner, so consider designating a trustworthy employee to oversee your inboxes. Outsourcing your social media also ensures that all messages, comments, and reviews are acknowledged and responded to quickly and professionally. While we recommend personally replying to as many comments as possible, even a simple “like” lets someone know their input was recognized and appreciated. Targ et Your Audience Hashtags aren’t dead, we promise! They can be especially helpful for location-specific businesses or trying to reach a broader demographic (aren’t we all?). Your posts should include a balance of trending tags and those that encapsulate your niche. With platforms like LinkedIn and Instagram allowing users to follow hashtag groups, putting a little effort into using the right ones can be very effective in boosting engagement. Maintain a Posting Schedule One of the biggest struggles we hear from business owners is finding time to post consistently. Sure, we all have the best intentions, but life gets in the way, and social media gets put on the back burner. However, posting on a set schedule is necessary to keep your brand in front of your followers. A dedicated social media manager (that’s us!) will ensure your posts are published on time, at the right time—always. Give P osts a Boost As the social media landscape changes, so do the algorithms and what it takes to get posts seen. Whether we like it or not, targeted, paid promotions are becoming increasingly popular to hit the right demographics and increase engagement on your account. This doesn’t necessarily need to be a huge investment. Even with a limited budget, the key is to choose posts already performing well, and then boost them with a paid promotion for a specific timeframe. If you feel like your content is GOOD but not being seen, this may be just the thing needed to get noticed! It’s a small investment that offers a big return. Giving your social media engagement a boost can be a game-changer if your pages feel stagnant. These are just a few simple tips you can implement asap, but our team of social media experts can answer any questions specific to your business and brand needs. If you enjoy staying up to date on current social media trends, you don’t need us to tell you—it’s ALWAYS changing! Content strategies come and go faster than most can k eep up with. It can be frustrating, to say the least, causing many to throw in the towel and give up. B ut believe it or not, there are some “rules” for creating content that can withstand those pesky algorithms. No need to work harder—just smarter! And how, exactly, can you do this? By knowing your audience. That’s right! It’s not fancy reels or expensive paid campaigns that matter most (although they can certainly help). Knowing who you want to target, what they’re searching for and why is the foundation of a successful online presence. Here are four things to consider when creating meaningful content for the right audience. What value am I providing? Sure, there’s mindless scrolling on social media, but when building a brand, your content needs to give value. Try sharing a healthy balance of informative, entertaining, and inspirational posts that keep your audience interested. Businesses must be relatable, transparent, and authentic to keep customers wanting more. Consider the delivery and tone of your messaging and make sure it will resonate with followers. And most importantly, focus on producing high-quality content rather than a large quantity. Fewer well-crafted posts are more likely to gain likes and engagement. Is my messaging consistent? Maintaining a consistent voice and style across social media platforms helps your brand build trust and recognition. It’s also necessary to create (and stick to) a schedule for when posts will be published. We can’t stress it enough—to positively position your business on social channels businesses MUST post regularly to keep their following. Doing so creates a familiarity with daily updates, business announcements, and other inspirational content—and keeps people tuning in to see what you’re sharing. Am I offering ample opportunities for engagement? Remember, social media is all about being social. Choose content that encourages engagement through questions, comments, and calls to action. While your priority may be marketing your business, your online community needs to feel emotionally connected through your posts. Respond to comments and questions promptly or ask for feedback on a new idea or product. Social media is a powerful tool that stems from a human connection. What are my monthly analytics showing? Regularly reviewing analytics and feedback will help you better understand what’s working and what's not so you can adjust your strategy accordingly. Some brands thrive off live videos and reels, while others see more success with still images. You won’t know what your audience responds most to unless you’re looking at the data, so use those reports to your advantage! Effective social media branding lets you tell the story of your business—its philosophies, the products or services you offer, and what makes you the best choice over a competitor—through the right blend of content and messaging. At Officially Social , we work closely with clients to develop the most effective strategies so you can get the greatest return on your investment. Social media algorithms change more than many can keep up with, making it hard to track how well you r content is performing. And whether you create posts yourself or outsource services, you probably know there is more that goes into a strong online presence than just great content. But how do you know if what you’re posting is WORKING? Each platform has unique metrics, so using them to your advantage is key to growing your audience. Two areas to look at in social media analytics are reach and impressions . While related, they each serve a different aspect of engagement. Let’s take a look at both and how they can help (or hurt) your social media presence: Reach: This refers to the number of individuals who have viewed your content at least once during a set time. It also helps you know how many people see your content in their feeds. Improving reach can impact other aspects of social media: Exposure: The wider your audience, the greater exposure for your brand! You’re already investing time (and perhaps money) into growing your business online, so ensure a variety of people are seeing your messaging. Engagement: A larger reach increases the chances of followers engaging with your content. It also opens up more opportunities for likes, comments, and shares—a crucial part of growth! Marketing: Analyzing reach allows you to calculate the effectiveness of your marketing efforts. If your strategies are not getting adequate results, use the data to make necessary changes for a greater ROI. Impression: Like reach, impressions calculate the frequency of content exposure but factor in every instance an image or video is viewed, even multiple times by the same person. Impressions matter for several reasons: Post Performance: Curious how many people are actually seeing your content in their feeds? Impressions are the metric to check! They are a great insight into overall visibility and exposure. Niche Marketing: Looking to target a specific audience? A higher impression count suggests that your content is viewed by the same people multiple times. Content Strategy: Impressions can help with your strategy by identifying which posts resonate most with your audience, allowing you to plan for similar messaging and delivery in the future. Audience Analysis: If you don’t know who your content is reaching, how can you ensure they’re getting your message? Impressions show trends in audience behavior to provide a better picture of what people want more of and what they’re scrolling past. To recap, reach covers the span of your audience, while impressions give insight into frequency. Want to learn more about these areas for your individual social media analytics? One of the many perks of hiring a dedicated account manager is that we do the work for you! At Officially Social, our team monitors monthly changes so the content we create meets the needs of your audience and stays on brand with your messaging.

It can be hard to keep up with the latest add-on tools and feature launches on social media platforms and truth be told, not all are created equal. But there’s one gaining traction with business owners that’s helping to boost engagement, audience reach, and sales, too! Chances are good you’ve seen or used this feature before—perhaps unknowingly. Instagram’s “Quick Reply” allows users to create pre-selected responses for specific keywords or phrases in direct messages (DMs). This tool streamlines communication by allowing users to respond efficiently to common inquiries or products of interest. The best part is your response or link becomes easily visible in that follower’s direct messaging inbox, making it more accessible. Curious how to tailor the Quick Response feature to meet the needs of your business? Here are some examples we encourage you to try. Customer Inquiries Have you been utilizing the “Link In Bio” CTA without much website traction? It may be time to switch things up. Try having followers comment with keywords like “Product” or “FAQ” which allows you to automatically send them a direct link to your website for purchasing or help with a question. Upcoming Events Avoiding last-minute RSVPs can be a hassle, but mitigate that by making it more convenient to register for an upcoming seminar, book an appointment, or reserve a timeslot for a consult. The easier the process, the greater the likelihood of a follow-through. Feedback and Reviews Replying to messages in a timely manner is essential for building a positive rapport online, but sometimes it gets pushed to the end of a long to-do list. Create quick replies to acknowledge and show appreciation for positive comments and address any concerns promptly. Sales and Promotions Selecting a keyword like “sale” or “savings” lets business owners seamlessly send customers coupon codes or special discounts straight to their inboxes. It’s great to share promotional codes right in your newsfeed, but try utilizing this feature instead to give your engagement a boost at the same time. Ready to give it a try? Simply go to the Settings tab in your Business account, find and select Quick Replies , and then create a new reply based on your needs. This feature is currently available on Instagram only, although Facebook does offer the ability to preset replies to messages via Meta Business. If you’re looking for more assistance, the team at Officially Social has you covered. Contact us at alison@officiallysocial.com, and we’d be happy to answer any questions you have about incorporating this and other up-and-coming tools in your current social media package.

We hear it from our clients all the time. “I’m not on TikTok personally, so why should I use it professionally?” While we understand the aversion to new technology, we’r e here to tell you that regardless of your personal social media preferences, this trending platform is a great marketing tool for your business. With over 1.5 BILLION active users in 2023, TikTok continues gaining momentum for everything from entertainment to education. So, what’s the buzz all about? Unlike other platforms, TikTok does not limit content to direct followers. Their algorithms make it easy for anyone, anywhere, to find videos based on interests and search history. That means the next viral video is just a click away, and it could be yours. Here are our top five tips for a seamless TikTok transition: 1. Do Your Research Like other social media platforms, TikTok requires a little advanced planning for the greatest impact. Start by scoping out your competitors and look at their videos with the most likes and engagement. What are they doing that works well? It could be anything from song choice to the time of day they post. Use them as inspiration to create a marketing plan tailored to specific customer needs. You’ll also want to plan diversified content. Yes, dance videos are entertaining, but how-to, tutorials, and DIY also do very well on TikTok. Find a balance that caters to the audience you serve. 2. Build Your Brand Branding on TikTok begins with your bio, where you have just eighty characters to introduce your business. Be creative and make each word count. Tone matters, and there are ways to be both professional and personable. Focus on similar themes for a cohesive look, but also experiment with different layouts and music. Your profile should tell a story, not just serve as a sales pitch. 3. Create A Calendar Daily activity is necessary when you're first starting out on TikTok. The algorithms favor engaged users, so make this a priority to build a strong following. This includes sharing and commenting on other accounts too! Need inspiration for filling up a month’s worth of material? Followers enjoy getting sneak peeks at daily routines, so even things that seem mundane to you might pique someone else’s interest. And take inspiration from influencers and industry leaders—chances are you’ll come up with new ideas in no time. 4. Yes, Hashtags Are Important! Hashtags are a powerful search tool, especially on TikTok, so use them to your advantage. Include location-specific and industry buzzwords, plus any keywords directly related to the post's topic. You can also research the most popular hashtags on any given day, which can help generate more visibility. Most importantly, try to mix up the hashtags you include. Algorithms are tricky and sometimes flag accounts that are too repetitive. 5. Build Community Remember, your priority is to market your business, but your followers also want to feel emotionally connected. Respond to comments and questions promptly, and show some love to others in your industry. Ask for feedback on a new idea or product. Social media is a powerful tool, but that stems from a human connection. Something as simple as “liking” a comment lets people feel noticed and valued. Regardless of the size of your business, TikTok is slated to remain a valuable addition to your social media toolkit. Develop a unique profile, target your audience, and create a meaningful content strategy to increase your chances of success. Need help getting started? Which platforms are best for your niche? Each offers versatile options that can be tailored to your audience—the key is using them to your advantage.

Ask any small business owner why they post content online, and most will give the same answer—to generate more sales. But that's exactly why many accounts fail to do well on social media. When companies prioritize profit over personal connection, they often lose the exact audience they wish to gain.

Let’s face it. As a small business owner, planning meaningful, interesting content can feel like a full-time job. And if you’re already strapped for time and resources, it can seem downright impossible to plan, create, and post. However, successfully scheduling social media content is also necessary to reach a wider audience and boost engagement. While developing a calendar (and sticking to it) may feel tedious, we promise it’s essential for building your network. Luckily, there are some simple strategies to incorporate that will make planning your social media schedule a little easier. Here are four ways to improve your social media scheduling without giving yourself more work. 1. Post Consistently Consistent action creates consistent results. We can’t stress it enough—to positively position your business on social channels, you MUST post regularly. Doing so creates a welcomed expectation from your audience so they keep tuning in to see daily updates, business announcements, and other inspirational content. 2. Share at the Right Times Do you know your social media “sweet spots”? If you’re not posting when followers are tuned in, you risk missing a huge chunk of your audience. Statistically speaking, early weekday mornings, especially Tuesday-Thursday, are the best days and times to post, but that varies based on many factors. Diving into monthly analytics is a great way to determine when your audience is the most active and engaged. 3. Create a Calendar You use a calendar for client meetings and business reminders, so why not use one for your social media, too? When your ideas are already outlined, it becomes much easier to create engaging content and takes the guesswork out of what to share. We recommend using a spreadsheet, a template, or tools like Google Calendar to organize your ideas. Consider what types of content you want to share (image or video), the topics you want to cover that week or month, and any time-sensitive promotions, holidays, etc. We also realize that this is often easier said than done, so we’ve recently added industry-specific content calendars to the list of our services at Officially Social. They're complete posts with images, links, text, and hashtags for an entire month- all you need to do is download and share! 4. Use a Scheduler While you can choose to post organically to each social media channel you subscribe to, many find it daunting logging into multiple accounts daily. A social media scheduler helps streamline all of your content in one easy-to-access place while also allowing you to schedule posts in advance so they’re automatically published when you want. We have partnered with Social Champ so our clients can load Officially Social content directly into their calendars to create, schedule, organize, and analyze multiple social accounts. Social Champ also has a free plan, and it's easy to use! Just like you’d prioritize time for any other business task, scheduling your social media content in advance is a game-changer, saving you valuable time and headaches later. Whether you choose to DIY or outsource, there are plenty of tools available to make the process seamless. And as always, our team is here to help answer any questions!
